2/10/09 - FEBRUARY SNOW

RETURN TO ORION'S BLOG
Well, it's been about a month, but the snow returned today. Both boys seemed happy about it and wanted to play. But, it was very wet snow and the prediction was that it would melt soon. The prediction was also that it would only last a few hours. That didn't turn out to be true. It snowed big puffy flakes late into the afternoon. But it was true that it was very wet snow.

They didn't cancel school so we suited up early for the bus so as to have some snow play time before it arrived. Ollie made a new discovery...the feel of melting snowflakes in his hand. Last time it snowed he spent very limited time out in it because he was so sick from some unknown illness. And he had never been out in it without gloves. This time I took his gloves off because they were bugging him. He just sat there with his hands in the air catching snowflakes. He was mesmerized by the experience.

We tossed a few snowballs and talked about how much we missed the igloos we had made a month ago in our front yard. Snow days always take me back to my childhood. There was nothing that could beat a snowy day, a good hill, and the hope of hot cocoa to warm up to later. I take great pleasure now in watching my kids experience those same joys in life

2/8/09 - THE UNBREAKABLE BROTHER BOND

RETURN TO ORION'S BLOG
As Ollie starts to get older and more communicative he is starting to bond more and more with Orion. Granted, most times when they are together they are fighting over sharing toys. But occasionally I catch them belly laughing together in their Thomas the tank engine tent or play wrestling on the floor and laughing. It's precious and makes me hope for so many things that they might share in the future. I imagine the brother bond must be unlike any other. Unbreakable. I'm happy that they have each other...as different as their personalities may be.

Today they jumped onto the same chair and started being so sweet. They both wanted me to take a video of them so I did, even though nothing really eventful happened in the video. Here is a clip of that.

Anyway, this afternoon we took both boys to the children's museum. Orion was meeting a classmate named Otto. Orion doesn't often meet up with other kids to play so it was a nice treat for him.

Ollie loved being at the museum too and really enjoyed dumping lentils from cup to cup in the toddler room. He's into dumping these days. It was a loud, but fun afternoon.

2/6/09 - ROCKET BOY

RETURN TO ORION'S BLOG
Oliver is very much into riding things around the house. He either rides the toy pony or the retro rocket. His preference is the retro rocket because it has storage under the seat and he can fill it with all of his goodies. Whenever we lose something important like our car keys we first look in the retro rocket. Many missing things end up in there.

Today I opened up the retro rocket seat and in it was a nice collection of things; a hair brush, 2 band aids, some chewed up raisins, an envelope from an old credit card bill, two of Orion's socks, and a handful of missing pegs from the battleship game. Ollie's treasures. He just scoots around the house and picks up things under chairs and on tables and hides them in his rocket. What a little scavenger!
