6/20/07 - SLEDDING IN JUNE!

RETURN TO ORION'S BLOG
The sun finally came out during Grandpa's visit...right as it's about to end. Oh well.

Today we hung around Olympia. We took the boys to Priest Point Park with Grandpa, Aunt Oneida, Uncle Matt, Mommy, and Daddy. We had a nice picnic. The mosquitoes were out in full force though. Ollie was quietly sleeping in his car seat when Mommy spotted a mosquito landing on his cheek. She went to swat it away and lightly smacked poor Ollie in the face. What an alarming way to wake from a nap...with your Mama swattin' you!

Later we went back home and Grandpa showed the boys the sled that he hand made for them. We look forward to trying it in the snow this winter. Thanks Grandpa!

RETURN TO ORION'S BLOG

Mommy took Ollie out on the front porch of our 1903 Fort Flagler rental house that was originally military housing. It was cold...but the view was worth it. Ollie was laughin' and grinnin' at Daddy and Grandpa George as they walked past. What a nice place to spend father's day!

RETURN TO ORION'S BLOG
Today Grandpa George, Aunt Oneida, Uncle Matt, Dad, Mom, and Ollie headed out to Seattle to enjoy the Pike Place Market. Orion was at preschool and with Grandma while we were away (last day of school!)

We enjoyed shopping the market, watching fish throwing, eating donuts, and sipping mochas. It was overcast and occasionally raining so they got a real taste for the pacific northwest.

After the market we headed to Ivar's for clam chowder and then hopped the Bainbridge Island ferry. We drove past our old house and then went to Poulsbo briefly. Ollie enjoyed being in the baby bjorn and exploring. It's lots of fun to have family around.

6/7/06 - FINALLY CONTENT ON BACK

RETURN TO ORION'S BLOG
At almost 6 months of age Ollie is finally more content lying on his back. It seems like we have kept him elevated in either his car seat or his fitted wedge (a device the hospital made for him to sleep in) for almost 6 months now to help with his Laryngomalacia and GERD. But, consequently, he is now a bit delayed in the rolling over milestones. We've seen him do it on the odd occasion. But, not until recently.

Anyway, Ollie and Orion went to Grandma's house last night. Grandma did a great job watching both boys. Mommy and Daddy went to the Police concert in Seattle. Mommy was hesitant to leave Ollie for very long because he is still reliant on her as a main food source. But now that he is eating some solids there are other options. Here is the list of solid foods Ollie has eaten so far...in order...
1) rice cereal with b. milk
2) applesauce
3) pears
4) prunes
5) oatmeal cereal with b. milk
6) oatmeal cereal with b. milk and prunes

We have a whole cabinet full of other foods to try but we need to take it slowly so we can figure out any allergic reactions he may have. The rice cereal really blocked him up so we switched to oatmeal cereal. And the prunes tend to help with all of that if done in moderation. He really is excited about the solid food thing. I started out just doing it once a day but now we are up to twice a day. I have actual hope that this kid will eat a variety of things, unlike his brother.
