8/26/07 - OLIVER GETS DEDICATED AT CHURCH

RETURN TO ORION'S BLOG
We dedicated Oliver in front of the church today. Sounds like a simple thing but it got a bit hairy.

You see, Orion refuses to go in the church building these days. So, we made arrangements for Tracy and Richard to pick up Orion before we left for church. Well, it takes us about 20 minutes to drive, park, and get seated at church. Church starts at 9am and we were the first thing on the agenda. But at 8:50am we were still at our house waiting for Tracy to arrive. No call or sign of her anywhere. We thought maybe she forgot so we loaded the boys in the car and decided to drop me off at the church to tell the pastor we were canceling the dedication. Here we were all dressed up and very upset.
Just as we are turning off of our street, who saunters slowly around the corner? Richard and Tracy. There seemed to be no sense of urgency on their part. Then they announce that they need Orion's car seat. Now it's 8:52! Oy. We toss the car seat, Orion, and Orion's stuff out of the car and break all speed limits to get to church. We rip Ollie out of the car and bolt inside just in time to be seated briefly and be called up for the dedication. It was not the calm morning we had hoped for.

But Oliver was happy and quiet on stage. He didn't even seem to mind that Pastor Chuck was holding him instead of Mommy. Mommy prayed for her mean, aggressive thoughts toward Tracy and later called her to forgive her for her lateness. (Not that she really seemed to care or want forgiveness.)

Anyway, here's a cute picture of Ollie and Daddy at church after the dedication.

8/18/07 - OLLIE'S FIRST BUS RIDE

RETURN TO ORION'S BLOG
Ollie took his first bus ride ever. We took our annual church camping trip to Mt. Rainier. On Saturday the weather was clear so we all took the shuttle bus from Cougar Rock campground up to Paradise Lodge. Ollie enjoyed looking out the window with Daddy on the bus.

Daddy carried Ollie in the front pack as we hiked. He seemed to like it. Ollie fell asleep about halfway through though.

At night, Ollie and Mommy slept in the back of the minivan. We removed the back seats so Mommy had room to sprawl out. Big bro' and Daddy slept in tents. Saturday night it started to rain quite a bit but Ollie was nice and dry in the minivan. Mommy piled on lots of clothes so he looked like stuffed tic. He was toasty warm. Despite the rain, we all had a good time.

8/12/07 - BIG BRO'S BIRTHDAY

RETURN TO ORION'S BLOG
Today was big brother Orion's birthday! He's 4 years old. Ollie really looks up to him. He enjoys watching Orion run around and often giggles at him. He reaches out for him and tries to hug him too. It's cute.

Today Grandma watched Orion while Ollie, Mommy, and Daddy went to church for the first time in a long time. Afterwards Ollie also went to lunch with Mom and Dad at a Vietnamese restaurant. Ollie skipped his morning nap to stay awake for all of this.

He's eating much better these days. He completely refuses to nurse when he's awake and alert so he is fed with a special cup that a Speech Language Pathologist gave us. Ollie likes it. He also likes Mum Mum biscuits and lots of solid foods. He is starting to get a little chunkier. It's a good thing!
